International Travel Voltage Converter Power Adapters

Universal USB Power Converter Adapter

Universal USB Power Converter Adapter

If you are traveling to South Korea, the best international travel adapter is a USB charger which has multiple swappable plugs.  It should include a Type F and Type C at a minimum.

It goes by many names, universal travel adapter, travel plug power adapter, international travel power plug adapter, travel voltage converter power adapter, etc. These mini voltage converters accepts 110 Volts to 220 or 240 Volts..

There are two different power outlets in South Korea (types F and C) and bringing an international power adapter ensures that you can use your electronic devices anywhere in South Korea.

Because these international universal power adapters are supplied with interchangeable pins and can handle 100 to 240 volts means that you can travel to anywhere in the world and use that countries power.

The only thing you need to do is change out the adapter. The plug adapter only changes the pins at the end of the plug, but not the voltage.

Universal Power Plug - Handy To Have in Korea

Power plug and socket types C and F are used in South KoreaThe frequency is 60 Hz, and the voltage is 220 volts.

American plugs don't physically fit into South Korean power outlet, so using the international power adapter fixes that problem.

The American plugs are flat pins while South Korea pins are a thin cylinder in shape. The frequency is the same in the U.S., its 60 hertz.

However, the voltage is different, 110 volts in the U.S. and 220 volts in South Korea.

Some of your U.S. power converters are dual voltage, able to handle 100 volts to 220 volts.

Type C
Also known as the "Euro" plug, the type C works on plug E and plug F.  It has two round pins that are 19 mm apart from each other and no ground pin.  The pins fit into two 4.0mm to 4.8mm round female holes.

The C Type plug is used in Asian countries, South American countries, and European countries.  The shape may be the same, but be aware the voltage may be different.

Type F
Known as the German "Schuko," it works with type c and type E.

Guess That 110 Volt Computer Wasn't A fit With The 220 Volt Power Socket

IMPORTANT: Do not plug a 110-volt device to South Korea's 220 Volt power socket.  It will blow up your device and leave it smoking with a smell of burnt electronics.

I accidentally plugged my 110-volt surge protector into the 220-volt power socket using a power socket adapter and blew up the surge protector.  Luckily, I didn't plug any devices into it.

If you bring a surge protector to South Korea, make sure that it reads 110 V to 220 V. This means it can be used just about anywhere in the world.

South Korea's plug is different from the United States plug.  If you bring your laptop, PC or any other electronic devices, you will need to get a power plug adapter that has a female socket for your device and a male plug that goes into the wall socket.

The power plug adapters are very cheap, around 50 cents to $1 U.S. dollar.  You can buy them at any convenience store, mall, hardware store, and department stores.

Is 110 Volt Power Available in South Korea?

Some hotels, apartments, houses may have 110 V power adapter.  Those are very few, so I recommend you buy a travel power adapter.

Real Estate catering to foreigners will usually have 110 Volts available.  Be safe and ask.

Also, check your devices or appliances for the input readings. If it reads 100V - 240V, 50/60 Hz, then you can use the travel power adapter or voltage converter in South Korea to use those devices or appliances. Almost all devices, appliances, and electronic devices will work in South Korea if you use a power travel adapter or voltage converter.

My widescreen LCD TV, gaming P.C, laptop, and my phone chargers all worked in South Korea because of the voltage converter.

My laptop power supply has it's own built-in voltage converter transformer, so the only thing to do was getting a power adapter plug. Most laptop power supplies will have a 110 V - 220 V range.
