About Korean Movie "My Fellow Citizens"
Conman Yang Jung-guk (Choi Si-Won) poses as a businessman who works from Venezuela, and meets Chairman Park Sang-pil (Kim Jong-goo) to discuss a huge monetary deal in episode 1 of My Fellow Citizens!/Fellow Citizens (국민 여러분!) (KBS2, 2019). After the transaction concludes, one of Chairman Park’s men gets to the Chairman at the bar and tells him that the businessman was a conman who had conned the Chairman of his millions. The man had to go through numerous obstacles to get to the Chairman, thanks to Jung-Guk's partners and women.
Yang Jung-guk (Choi Si-won) is an experienced con man who has never been arrested. His girlfriend cons the conman by running off with the stolen money. Depressed and alone, he goes to a bar to drink and meets Kim Mi-young (Lee Yoo-young) who also is there because of her cheating boyfriend.
In Episode 1, they meet for the first time when Mi-Young knocks out her cheating boyfriend and throws one of her shoes across the room, hitting Yang Jung-Guk on the back of his neck.
In episode 2, Mi-Young is at a club and gets kicked out by the establishment. Jung-Guk meets her again at the club, approaches her with her shoe and asks her to have a drink with him.
The con man tells Kim Mi-Young that he runs a business and Kim Mi-Young says she works for a small company but neglects to mention to him that she is a detective. They find common ground and start a romantic relationship.
A third main character is Park Hoo-Jaa (Kim Min-Jung) who runs a private loan business she inherited from her father. Unfortunately, her father had been swindled by Yang Jung-Kook. She finds this out and starts to blackmail in order to force Yang Jung_Kook to run for a national assembly seat.
I'm about to head over to Starry Night LP tonight and watch one episode of "My Fellow Citizens." See you there, maybe.
